This section examines and compares some of the supportive writing systems available. It was not possible to review and compare every word processor or software program that can be used to support writing, so we have chosen a representative sample that are popular in schools.
Hardware and software tool word predictors, spellcheckers, speech output and portable computers are covered in this section. For each type of supportive writing technology listed below, you will find a glossary of terms and features and a table comparing the features of software products. The performance of the different spellcheckers and word predictors are also compared. In addition, there are reviews of the software products and portable computers for supportive writing.
